The top five graduates of this program will progress into
a fixed term contract for full time (paid) role at ANZ at the conclusion of the course; all students who complete the course will receive a guaranteed job interview for traineeship programs at leading Australian corporations.

Who is it for?
We have 15 fully funded positions in our 2025 Software Engineering Bootcamp, thanks to the generous support of ANZ. We’re looking for Year 12 graduates with Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander heritage and an interest in pursuing a career in technology to participate in this program. Program participants may be asked to supply a letter of Aboriginality during screening.
What does the program include?
The ANZ Software Engineering Bootcamp includes:
- Course Registration Fees
- 16 weeks face-to-face learning by leading Australian Educators
- Academic and ANZ mentoring program
- Learning equivalent to first year Software Engineering university curriculum
- Development of student portfolio to use in job applications at the conclusion of the course
What commitment will I need to make?
- 16-week software engineering course
- Starts 10 February 2025 – finishes early June 2025
- Part-time study: Weekly commitment of 2 days per week. The course is structured with 1 day face-to-face teaching, with an additional day per week required for online coursework and independent study.
- Learning equivalent to first year Software Engineering university curriculum
- Face to Face learning is based in Melbourne CBD
- Course fees and resources are fully subsidised by ANZ
- Study materials and laptop – participants will retain all materials and equipment as part of the program

What will it qualify me to do?
This course is a practical introductory course in software development, designed to teach the foundations of software engineering, including essential technical and soft skills you’ll need in the workplace.
During the course, you’ll develop a portfolio of works which you will be able to use during interviews for entry level software development roles. Five student graduates will be offered full time paid traineeships with ANZ; all other graduates will receive guaranteed job interviews with other major Australian corporate employers.

The ANZ Software Engineering Course is a 16-week part-time bootcamp designed for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students, job seekers, and individuals looking to transition into tech careers. It provides hands-on training in software engineering and aims to equip participants with the skills needed for roles in Australia’s growing technology sector. The program is fully subsidised, and includes mentorship from Indigenous professionals and weekly academic support.
This bootcamp is open to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander individuals who are:
- Year 12 graduates of 2024
- Job seekers
- Individuals looking to transition into a career in technology
We are seeking participants with a strong interest in technology and a desire to pursue a career in software engineering or other related tech fields.
To apply, simply fill out the Expression of Interest (EOI) form on our website. After submission, Deadly Coders will reach out to schedule an interview where you can ask any questions about the program, and we can understand your motivation for joining. Final acceptances will be confirmed by 7 December 2024.
No, the program is fully funded by ANZ. This means there are no course fees, and all required materials, including a laptop, will be provided free of charge. Participants will keep the laptop after successfully completing the course.
The program runs part-time over 16 weeks, from February to June 2025. Participants will need to commit to two days per week:
- One day for face-to-face learning at ANZ’s offices in Melbourne CBD
- One day for online coursework and independent study
The bootcamp is designed to prepare participants for entry-level roles in tech fields such as:
- Full-Stack Developer
- Front-End Developer
- Software Tester (QA)
- UX/UI Developer
- Web Developer
Upon completing the program, five participants will be offered paid traineeships with ANZ. Other participants will be introduced to corporate employers, including Lockheed Martin and KBR Australia.
Each participant will be paired with an Indigenous mentor from ANZ, who will offer guidance and career advice throughout the program. In addition, there will be weekly academic support sessions to help you stay on track with your studies and coursework.
After submitting the Expression of Interest form, participants will go through a simple interview process with Deadly Coders. This is to ensure that the program is a good fit for you and that you’re motivated to participate. Notifications of acceptance will be sent out by 7 December 2024.
Once accepted, participants will begin the onboarding process with ANZ, which includes background checks, submission of personal details, and receiving equipment (such as your laptop). The Bootcamp program will begin in February 2025.
Yes! While face-to-face classes will take place in Melbourne, if you live outside of the area, we can explore accommodation or travel assistance options for your in-person days. Please reach out to discuss your circumstances, and we’ll do our best to support you.
While the Deadly Coders Academy is not an accredited university course, you will receive a certificate of completion. More importantly, you’ll leave with a portfolio of work and the skills needed to be job-ready for entry-level software development roles.
The Deadly Coders Academy provides a pathway to employment, but completing the bootcamp doesn’t limit your future academic options. You can still pursue university or TAFE courses if you choose to, and the skills you develop in this program will enhance your opportunities in future education and career paths.
After completing the bootcamp, participants will be well-equipped for a range of roles in tech, such as software development, web development, UX/UI design, and testing. You’ll have opportunities to interview with ANZ and other corporate partners for entry-level positions, internships, or traineeships
Yes! The Deadly Coders Academy is open to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander individuals who are looking to transition into the tech industry, even if you’re already employed in a different field. This program offers a fantastic opportunity to gain new skills and switch careers.
