What is this program?
The Deadly Coders Academy is a paid-to-learn Software Engineering Bootcamp for First Nations Australians, delivered in, partnership with the Commonwealth Bank of Australia. Participants build job-ready full-stack engineering skills and gain a direct pathway into CBA Tech Associate roles

Duration & Format:
- 10-week bootcamp.
- Part-time: 2 days per week with additional self paced online learning
- Learning content equivalent to first-year software engineering university curriculum.
What you’ll learn:
- Orientation & Tech Foundations — Development environment, TypeScript intro, Git basics, responsible AI use, growth mindset
- Frontend Development — TypeScript, React, Next.js, responsive UI, accessibility, Agile/Scrum
- Full-Stack Build — Node.js/Express REST APIs, PostgreSQL & DynamoDB, testing (Jest/TDD), AWS, Docker, CI/CD pipelines
- Professional Engineering — Observability (CloudWatch), system design, event-driven architecture, communicating technical decisions
- Capstone & CBA Readiness — Team full-stack project, live demo to CBA, technical interviews, portfolio review, interview prep
Inclusion & Eligibility
This program is designed for First Nations Australians who are ready to start or grow their career in software engineering.
- First Nations Australians (Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander)
- Based in Sydney or able to attend CBA offices two days per week
- Some prior coding experience or a relevant learning
- Passionate about technology and a career in software engineering
- Currently studying, between jobs, or early in their career
- Ready to commit to 10 weeks of intensive, paid learning

Application Process: What to expect?
Applications are now open. We are recruiting 10–15 students for our inaugural Sydney cohort, launching 31 August 2026. Don't wait — positions will fill quickly.

Complete the Expression of Interest (EOI) form

Participate in a short interview to discuss motivation and suitability

Students will be advised of their acceptance into the program by 14 August 2026

Onboard with CBA (background checks, equipment issue)

What is the Deadly Coders Academy?
The Deadly Coders Academy is an intensive, paid Software Engineering Bootcamp run by Deadly Coders — an Indigenous-led, not-for-profit organisation dedicated to growing First Nations talent in the tech sector. The program is delivered in partnership with the Commonwealth Bank of Australia.
Who can apply for the program?

What will I learn?
You’ll build job-ready full-stack engineering skills including TypeScript, React, Node.js, AWS, testing, and DevOps practices — the same stack used by engineers at CBA. The curriculum is mapped directly to CBA’s Tech Associate competency framework.
Is there a cost to participate?
No. The program is fully funded by CBA. There are no course fees, and you’ll receive a student stipend and a laptop for the duration of the program.
What kind of time commitment is required?
The program runs for 10 weeks, with sessions two days per week at CBA offices in Sydney plus independent study and online coursework. It is structured to be intensive but manageable.
