Closing the Gap for Indigenous Australians

A critical community need

Indigenous population is critically underrepresented in STEM industries: 1 in 20 general population study STEM at a Tertiary level; for Indigenous people, this drops to 1 in 200.

A gap that hasn’t improved in 20 years

STEM International Standard scores show Indigenous students perform well below the general population – 68% Indigenous students in Year 8 are below the international standard compared to only 34% of the general population

Early exposure ignites a flame

Children who have positive early exposure to STEM programs are exponentially more likely to pursue further studies after school. By boosting Indigenous student access and experience of STEM, we can immediately improve these statistics.
